PEPR FORESTT

The “Forest Resilience” Priority Research Program and Equipment (PEPR FORESTT) is an ambitious interdisciplinary research programme centred on the socio-ecological transition of forest systems, in temperate and tropical areas. This programme is part of the France 2030 investment plan. Endowed with a budget of €40 million over 7 years (2024–2030), it mobilises the entire French scientific community around four challenges, addressing :

  • (1) societal issues related to the socio-ecological transition of forests,
  • (2) the development of an agile, circular bioeconomy based on wood,
  • (3) the adaptation and resilience of forest ecosystems, particularly with respect to mitigating the negative effects of global changes,
  • (4) the use of intelligent monitoring systems to promote scientific discovery and guide forest management and policy decisions.

This program funds 15 research projects, structures and strengthens the scientific community and its research infrastructures, supports action-oriented research and the Research-Development-Innovation continuum, and reinforces links between science and society. Its ambition is to foster an interdisciplinary, participatory, and transformative forestry science, oriented towards action and the implementation of innovative and long-term solutions that promote the sustainability and resilience of forest socio-ecosystems.
